Because of Martin’s change in plans, we decided to head back toward Everett on Monday after a quiet night on the buoy. We enjoyed full sunshine and mirror-smooth water in which the reflections of the flaming yellow trees among the shoreline evergreens glowed like upside-down candles. We paused in our journey for a tasty Mexican lunch and to do a little shopping in Hoodsport, on the way to whose dock a little Minke whale surfaced and smiled in our direction!

We docked in Pleasant Harbor in the evening, Joy and I walked a little along the waterfront, and we all slept well after an evening of eating, reading, and playing games.
