Walt and I packed our belongings and non-perishable food items before he slipped our dock line out of the mooring buoy’s top ring not long after noon on Tuesday, and we began motoring back to Braesail’s slip in the Anacortes Marina on a pleasant, mild mid-day. My night had been very brief indeed and not at all restful, but a quiet, relatively leisurely morning helped to overcome my sleep deprivation. Our two-hour journey was uneventful, but we noticed that the depth sounder’s display on the arch above the companionway (the entry stairs to the cabins below the decks) was not functioning. Fortunately, we have many sources of information about the depth of the water beneath our hull!
We stopped to pump out our holding tank before docking Braesail (I was grateful for the lack of wind!), and while I finished packing up our perishable food, Walt worked on the depth sounder display (some additional work will probably be needed later, but it can be used as it is at present). Once the Prius was loaded with our gear, we made our way back to Everett, stopping at the wonderful Lopez Creamery for ice cream cones on the way home (blackberry lavender is a marvelous flavor combination!). All was well in our condo, and I was tired but thankful for safe travels, beautiful examples of God’s artistry, and splendid times with the boaters at the rendezvous and with our friend Farhad! Next up: unpacking, putting away, cleaning, and resting . . .
