The fourth Sunday of the Advent season of the Church Year dawned gray and wet and remained that way. During a break in the rain, Walt left Braesail and walked up to shore to pay for another night at the dock, and later, when I was preparing to venture out for a walk, the downpour increased, so I chose to stay inside and to continue reading, writing email, working on DuoLingo French lessons, and listening to wonderful seasonal music with a mug of tea close at hand. I didn’t manage to take any pictures, unfortunately.
After an early supper, Walt and I joined our regular “Jamulan” friends to sing and pray the Daily Office of Compline (prayers, readings, and music that close the day) using Jamulus software that allows widely-scattered participants to talk and sing together in real time (like Zoom, but without video and without the sound delay issues that make it impossible for even two people to make music together using that platform). Our little Jamulus community has been offering online Compline since the spring of 2020 when live group singing became impossible, and we have been sharing prayer, music, and our lives ever since–a meaningful and much-appreciated blessing!
We finished a very quiet day with two games of Backgammon that were very different, mostly due to the luck of the dice–Walt won both. Tomorrow, we plan to leave Thetis Island at 7:30 am, hoping for relatively calm, rain-free weather, and heading to Porlier Pass and then Vancouver.
