Walt and I motored out of Berry cove at about 8:30 am after an excellent night: no wind, no rain, perfect quiet!

What a gorgeous view of snow-frosted mountain peaks we enjoyed as we returned to Kingccome Inlet and began our journey to Port Hardy on Vancouver Island!

An uneventful crossing of Queen Charlotte Strait over silky cerulean waters was much appreciated, and around 1:30 pm we arrived at the fuel dock in Port Hardy to feed Braesail about 70 gallons of diesel. With this task accomplished, we cruised around Fisherman’s Wharf in search of a mooring spot in a crowded harbor. We did find one, and Walt did a masterful job of maneuvering the boat into a tight space at the end of a dock with one boat ahead, another dock at right angles behind, and the bow of another large vessel protruding into the water near Braesail’s stern as well!
With Internet access available at last, we caught up on reading, writing, and research after enjoying hot showers, and we then made an inventory of the contents of our freezer and fridge in preparation for the arrival from Vancouver on Saturday of our son Martin and our mutual long-time friend Hans, the co-owner of Martin’s sailboat, Sagres. Showers of rain and sunshine alternated throughout the afternoon and evening, and we prepared for another quiet night; I must do laundry tomorrow!
