Walt and I spent a restful day in Laura Cove as all kinds of weather “blew through!” Rain soaked the night and most of the morning, chilly showers continued now and then through the afternoon with a few blue sky patches occasionally visible, an unhappy grumble of thunder and a swoosh of wind served as prelude to a heavy downpour in the evening, and at around 8:30 pm, sunshine shafts speared the clouds and a beautiful billowed sky revealed a scattering of snow on the peak overlooking the head of the cove.
I especially enjoyed observing the changing light on the shore as clouds came and went and the tides rose from 24 ft. to 39 ft. and fell again. I think that the shores’ rock formations resemble huge, uneven multi-layered cakes placed on a rippled-water plate, with colored rock-crumbles sprinkled along their bottoms, variegated moss-frosting smeared around their sides with drips of black granite trickling down here and there, and a thick green topping of trees finishing off the visual dessert!

Walt and I spent the day reading, writing, working on some French lessons when we had sufficient connectivity, making a few improvements around the boat, listening to music on our excellent stereo system, and playing “Crazy Eights” after dinner. Tomorrow we hope to travel to the end of Toba Inlet, about 35 miles (5-6 hours of travel) from our current location, so it will soon be time to end our tranquil day at anchor!
