Braesail and her crew of four left Anacortes in mid-morning on Sunday, May 19. The day was beautiful but there was almost no wind, and so we motored for a little over four hours to Prevost Harbor on Stuart Island and tied up the boat at the public dock where several other boats were already moored.
Good Sunday afternoon naps were had by all, and after a lasagna supper Ken, Lisa, and I walked up the dock, the ramp, and the stairs leading onto the island to enjoy the evening views over the water. Ken and I walked on to the composting toilets (no use augmenting the contents of the holding tank when other options are available!), and spotted a large deer grazing near the ramp leading down a steep slope to Reid Harbor. A bit later, Lisa and I spent some time sitting on the dock in the lovely evening light and talking while Ken walked the trail above the shore. My smartphone was able to capture the waxing gibbous moon floating in the sky above the harbor and gazing down at its reflection drifting in the water near the dock at the end of a delightful day!
