Ignoring the occasional soft drizzle, Walt, Martin, Hans, and I enjoyed a good walk around the town of Snug Cove that surrounds Bowen Island’s Union SteamShip Marina. We found a well-stocked general store, an organic produce market, a bakery or two, a well-resourced library, several gift shops and boutiques, a brewery, a distillery, a comfy pub, several cafes and restaurants emitting attractive odors, a pharmacy, and a boatyard, among other small businesses. What a delightful small community! I visited the marina’s wonderful boaters’ clubhouse on the shore–I’d spent some time there during a visit in the spring of 2022–and conversed with a friendly couple living aboard their boat in the marina.
Braesail’s crew concluded a relaxing day of strolling, reading, chatting, and munching with a good game of “Phase 10,” which Martin, Walt, and I used to play with his family members. Walt was the winner, I was the loser, and we all had a splendid time!
