Braesail and her crew are back safely in Anacortes; the boat is in her “home slip,” F64, and we are nearly packed and ready for Walt’s cousin and her husband, who live in Edmonds, to pick us up at the top of the ramp at about 9:30 am on Thursday, October 6, and drive us back to our condo in Everett. After they’ve gone on their way back home, Walt will extricate our Prius Prime Premiere from our single-car garage, drive back to the boat, and pack it with a full load of food, books, and clothing to bring home; I will do laundry and more laundry.
If all is ready, we’ll begin driving on Friday morning to Ripon, CA, where Walt’s mother lived and where her memorial service will take place on October 17. We’ll stay and help Walt’s family as long as we’re needed, and then drive back to Everett.
If weather is good and we’re interested in further adventure, we might take Braesail out again into the Gulf Islands. If not, this will end our 2022 excursion to the southern British Columbia coast, Haida Gwaii, the northern British Columbia coast, Southeast Alaska, the Great Bear Rainforest, the Broughton Islands, the Canadian Gulf Islands, the San Juan Islands, and back to Everett. What a splendid journey!
We left Rolfe Cove on Matia Island this afternoon, having made a 25-mile trip there from Montague Harbour on October 4, and we were fortunate enough to be able to sail gently for about an hour and a half on the way from Matia to Anacortes. We were so glad to be sailing on a lovely fall day and playing music in the cockpit to celebrate Walt’s mom’s life, work, ministries, friendship, and love of God. We will miss her, but are so thankful that she was able to share this wondrous journey with us via this blog! Thank YOU for joining us too–we are so grateful for the gifts and blessings of safety, beauty, and your friendship!

Have loved all of your posts and have greatly admired your skills, gifts, and travels with the Lord. Safe journey to Ripon and God bless you.
